Pukinmäen historia ulottuu 1400-luvulle. Omistajat tiedetään vuodesta 1556 lähtien. Kartano on ollut kaupungin omistuksessa vuodesta 1917 lähtien. Nykyinen päärakennus ja asuinpihaa reunustavat sivurakennukset rakennettiin 1800-luvun lopulla. Päärakennus on remontoitu 1990-luvun lopulla. Kartanon talousrakennukset sijaitsivat asuinpihan pohjoispuolella nykyisten kerrostalojen paikalla.
